Keep Believing God

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (Hebrews 11:3).

I learned faith from my grandfather. He always made reference to Mark 11:22-24. At the breakfast table with sausage, bacon, and perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, he told me to have faith in God.

He shared with me a story of when he was a younger nan his knees hurt him and his job required him to go up flights of stairs, My Poppa prayed by faith and he told me that his knees continued to hurt. He still believed God.

He told me as he persevered in trusting that God is able, he still had to go up the stairs for his job, Even still believing, he told me that he did not notice the time that he had no more pain and shared with me that even if you are still hurting or dealing with things, you still trust and hope in God by faith. Believe that God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think even when hurting.

So even now as I go forward, if there is an occasion to need help from the Lord or if I am hurting I say, “I have to go up the stairs.” Just like my grandfather. I believe that God is able even if I am hurting. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

This seems especially difficult in a society that is oriented around feelings. You cannot go by how you feel or what you see. If you are believing in God by faith you must stand on His Word and continue to hope in God. It is good that man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord (Lamentations 3:26).

I can say that the Word of God is many things. For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thought and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). My advice is to get in the Word and stay in the word, If there is something that you need to change, speak the Word and say what God’s Word says about it. Let your confession be that my God is able. Stand on His promises and hope in God.
