Meet the women who help to lead this ministry with excellence

Founder

Venita Massey

I am a mother of 4 amazing children and 5 lovely grandchildren and have been a registered nurse since 1983. I was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, the youngest of seven siblings born to parents who loved God and taught His Word. My mother taught me to love the Bible. My maternal grandmother preached the gospel when it wasn’t okay for women to preach so I guess a love for God’s Word came honestly. My passion is to help God’s people (particularly His daughters) discover who they are in Christ and who He is in them. I’ve been in church my whole life (born on a pew it seems!) and have been in ministry for a whole lot of years. I was a PK (pastor’s kid) and pastored a church for 20 years but I truly believe it has all been in preparation for now. Awakening women to their purpose in the Kingdom of God. THAT is why I breathe. God birthed this vision for WOW in my heart and I am thrilled to take this ride of a lifetime with Abba, my Elder Brother, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Let’s fly!!

There is nothing fancy about me.  I love God, yet fail Him daily.

Born and raised in the SW corner of Michigan, l enjoy living in the little town of Dowagiac, out in the middle of nowhere, really. I’ve been blessed with 32 years of marriage to my best friend.  How he puts up with my shenanigans has to totally be God on his side.  I have a blended family of 4 adult children and 8 beautiful grandchildren ranging in age from 4 to 22, I think.  Oh, I cannot forget Princess Harley, our rescue dog, she actually rescued me and my husband.

Spending time with women who are like-minded with our Lord is my favorite thing to do.  Being involved with Women of Worship Ministries is an honor and a position I do not take lightly.  I love to share God with women who never knew they could have a personal relationship with Him.   I certainly didn’t know I could.

Gwen Hochstetler

My name is Gwen Hochstetler. I'm a wife, mother, and grandmother. I retired from a career job and currently work part-time in the retail sector. Like most people, I'm just trying to make my way in this very unpredictable world. My biggest desire is to bring a smidgen of joy and happiness to every person that crosses my path. I strive to be a light in the darkness that seems to surround so many. I am drawn to the lonely and love the Lord with every ounce of my being. I am drawn to the lonely and to those who have lost hope. My mission is to show them the love and goodness of Jesus in any way that I can.

As God breathed life into me for the first time ~ the first of three gifts given to a young couple in love ~ early life was very good!  I was created to be an artist and fill the world around me with beauty! I loved the LORD from a young age. But as life often does ~ several years and many blows later ~ I walked away from Him. I was blessed with 5 children. As I raised them I realized the void of not having God in my life. He drew me to Himself in 1991 and breathed fresh life into me at this second birth! Divorced shortly afterward ~ I was a single Mom for 10 years before my husband, Dennis, found me! We have had a great marriage centered around the LORD, our 7 children, and 15 Grandchildren. I absolutely love Worship and the Word of God ~ using them as a foundation to make Holy Spirit-led Prophetic Worship Aids and Artworks that draw God’s Children deeper into His Presence bringing healing and a greater understanding of their identity in Jesus Christ.

Hello!  I am so honored to be a member of this board that is focused on building up the Kingdom, especially women as daughters of the King!  My personal life is filled with family and ministry.  My husband and I have raised our 4 children in Northern Indiana and now we are enjoying 3 grandchildren--indescribable joy!  We are blessed beyond measure.  Professionally I serve as the Chief Nursing Officer for Saint Joseph Health System and consider my work a ministry.  Remaining in the presence of God and dwelling in Him is my focus for my personal and professional life.  It is my heart's desire that you know your purpose, your worth, and your identity in the One who holds your future.  Let us rise up as women of God and take our rightful place as we share the love of Jesus in every encounter.  Acts 20:24  “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus-the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”    Be blessed!  You are beloved.

I received Jesus as my personal Lord & Savior in November 1997.  I am abundantly blessed with a wonderful husband. Together we have a blended family of 7 (now adult) children and several grandchildren.  I have always enjoyed working with numbers, so getting into the accounting field was a natural fit.  I have been a member of Blue Roof Church in St. Joseph, Michigan for over 20 years, where I have been involved in children’s ministry, youth group, intercessory prayer, missions committee, hospitality ministry & life group leader.  My heart’s cry is to help break down denominational barriers and simply love like Jesus did!

What am I doing here? And now I’m on the board of WOW? Gee, I feel honored. Being transparent would uncover stumbles and some pits that I decided to venture through, but our God, as always, had been there even when I felt I didn’t want Him. By looking at me, one would never know my past and present struggles. I’m TRULY a work in progress. My prayer is that He will infuse in me the passion and consistent drive that are necessary for growth. My desire is that one could get a glimpse of God, despite me.

Personally, my conversion has been a process not an event.  When I first started considering who God was, it was out of desperation.  I was full of pride, ego and self-will and I was a dying, crazy, hot mess!  But as Jesus promises and as his perfect character manifested, He met me in my mess, and like taming a wild mare, He slowly, deliberately and beautifully orchestrated my eventual breakthrough, my turn around.  His love and truth has transformed me in ways I could have never envisioned.  Out of my incredible gratitude and thankfulness for His precious gifts, I have this revving motor, this incredible desire in my heart to help others find this eternal Living Water.  I am an imperfect vessel, in process, under construction, but I feel humbly called by the Lord to do my part, to bring about His plan, according to His will and bring all of his children to salvation and usher them into His Kingdom. I know if He will do it for me, He will do it for anyone.  It is truly an honor for me to serve on this board for WOW.  As a new member, I am so excited for what God has for all of us.  My heart is full of heavy, energized expectation!
